DERMATOLOGISTS...Membership Forms

NOTE:  Because the ODA is a non-profit organization (501-c-6), the ODA annual dues of $250 must be divided as follows:  $200 = general operating expenses and $50 = government relations (lobbyist).  The latter amount is not tax deductible as it is used for political action, and monies in the general fund cannot be used for such a reason.  Therefore, that amount is transferred to another account, which is authorized to pay for a lobbyist.


PHYSICIAN EXTENDERS
Beginning January 2010, physician extenders will be cordially welcome to join the ODA.    Annual dues is $187.50.     

Applications may be completed now and forwarded as indicated. 
  
The ODA Bylaws state:  Physician Extender 
-  Any individual meeting the following criteria: 
(1) hold a license from the Ohio Medical or Nursing Board to practice as a physician assistant or nurse practitioner and
(2) is currently employed by a physician who holds Fellow or Associate membership in the ODA. 
If the individual ceases to be employed by a Fellow or Associate member of the ODA, they shall be automatically dropped from the roll of the Corporation.  They shall immediately be eligible for membership if employed by a Member or Fellow of the ODA in the future but must pay a new membership fee.  Physician Extender members may not hold office in the Corporation but may serve on committees at the discretion of the President.

 Highlights - January 2012 ODA Board Meeting

  •  HB 119:  As before, we have enough votes in the House Health & Aging Committee to pass the tanning legislation; however, Rep Batchelder, Chairman of the committee, will not bring it to a vote.  The ODA will be in touch with its members regarding a grassroots effort to meet individually with your representatives.
  • Newsletter:  The Winter 2012 ODA News was published earlier this month.
  • Website:  Membership Directory is up and running.  Derm.md is working on a few glitches.
  • Membership:  
    Voted to accept David Crowe, MD and Shannon Campbell, DO as members.
     2012 invoices were mailed in November. 
    Approved Life Membership for Ronald Siegle, MD who retired at the end of 2011.
  • Mentorship/Resident Committee
    Michael Conroy, MD has agreed to Chair the Mentorship Program, replacing Dr. Charles Smalling who resigned in December.
    Shane Clark, MD, Resident Trustee, sent a questionnaire to the Ohio dermatology residents requesting feedback about the ODA annual meeting and other ideas they may have; some results still pending.  However, there was a strong interest for posting available jobs in the newsletter/website.

    Wednesday, July 11th - OSMA - 2-4 PM
    Saturday, October 20th - Hilton Columbus - 3:30 - 5:00 PM.
